VCR VS DVR

VCR VS. DVR

Advantages over VCR.

Digital Video security cameras for the past 8 years have revolutionized the security camera industry. Business owners have upgraded from the traditional VCR and multiplexer setup to Digital Video Recorders to help them protect, secure and control their business from both internal and external factors.

In a DVR Setup, images that were once recorded with a Video Cassette Recorder (VCR) are now being stored with a Digital Video Recorder (DVR). In the surveillance world, this new DVR technology provides clearer, permanent images with less equipment, all at a lower cost compared to VCR’s. DVR advantages over VCR can be summarized with the following:

  1. Since DVR’s record digitally, the image quality remains the same regardless of how many times the images are stored or rerecorded. With VCR tape, images become more grainy every time they are rerecorded.

  2. A DVR system allows you to pick a moment in time and select images quickly by using time/date or alarm search, or just browsing through. With VCR systems, you have to search the complete tape to find a specific time period.

  3. DVR systems record to a Hard Disk Drive (HDD). No more endless stacks.

  4. A DVR provided by DLA provides crystal clear images that are far superior to traditional CCTV systems and do not degrade over time.

  5. You can easily search for recorded video in seconds rather than hours. There are no more tapes to deal with.

  6. DVR systems provide years of virtually maintenance free operation.

  7. A DVR can be set up for motion detection recording so if there is no activity it will not “waste space”.

  8. A DVR does not record the same picture and waste hard drive space

  9. A DVR can be set up for remote monitoring by using a DSL, LAN, or CABLE internet connection. With a DVR purchased through 911 Security Cameras, you won’t even need a static IP.

  10. A DVR recorded video can be easily backed up to CDR, DVD, hard drives or network servers. These storage devices can be easily accessed at any time and retain the same quality as the original recording.
