Kangaroo Lens. A lens with only two fixed iris positions one fully open and the other
partly closed. Designed for use with Electronic Iris (Auto Electronic Shuttering or CCD Iris)
cameras as a way of controlling the output video level. It should only be used with compatible
cameras.
kb/s. Kilobits per second. Thousand bits per second. Also written as kbps.
K codes. A binary code inserted in the vertical interval of a video signal, by a multiplexer.
The binary number represents the input number of the multiplexer is usually one line per binary bit.
Kelvin. One of the basic physical units of measurement for temperature. The scale is the
sameas the Celsius, but the 0 K starts from -273.16ºC (0 K on the Kelvin scale or 0ºR on the
Rakine scale or –459.60ºF on the Fahrenheit scale). Also the unit ofmeasurement of thecolour
temperature of light is expressed in Kelvin or K. In colour recording, lighttemperature
affects the colour values of the lights and the scene thatthey illuminate.
kHz. Kilohertz. Thousand Hertz.
Kilobaud. A unit of measurement of data transmission speed equalling 1000 baud.
Kilobyte. 1024 bytes.
